We evaluate the intellectual, learning, emotional and/or behavioral functioning of your child. Children are typically referred for an assessment by their parents, pediatrician, or school for evaluations.
We begin by getting to know your child. We might just talk, or we might focus on non-verbal activities. Our goal is to establish good rapport, to help your child open up to us. We utilize the Why Try? Curriculum which encourages social, emotional and leadership principles and resiliency.
We work with youth, adolescents and their parents regarding a wide range of teen issues of importance: relationships, anxiety, depression, anger management, eating disorders, sexuality and self esteem.
Group Therapy is a powerful experience for children because they quickly learn that they are not alone in their experiences. They learn to trust and confide in others. They also learn that we have far more in common than we have differences. Children can be each others best supports, and small groups offer the kind of relationships and skill building that promotes emotional and social growth, plus encourages academic success.
We work with families dealing with issues such as abuse, blending families, child discipline, communication, conflict, grief, loss, and step-families. Family Therapy strengthens the family connections and develop skills to work through life’s challenges.
We utilize play therapy to help children express their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process.
